Bonner in the boats!!

Icebergs & JCR

Took the pic of the JCR from JR 2, one of the inflatble ribs the ship uses. This is before we ran 5 FIDS into Signy and punctured the boat on a rusty spike sticking out the jetty. Nice. With the aid of George on the foot pump all the way back we managed to keep enough air in the boat to make it back to the ship!!!

Signy Island

Before we even left the ship the locals were pleased to see us. The iceberg in the back is not imposed its real. They just look a bit like Ive "stuck" them on!

Welsh people are impressed by most things.

Pesky birds.

Well here are a few phots from today. We have been setting up the base on Signy Island in the South Orkneys and will continue to do so on tommorrow.

I was up at midnight to do my watch, 12 till 4. Saw the first iceberg of the season. It was a massive tabular berg probly about a mile or so long. It was really hard to tell as it was three miles away when closest (we saw it at around 6 miles). However when something looks massive at three miles away and it is blocking out the radar screen it definiatly is big. The thing was the berg behind it was even bigger!!!

At 4 I went down and got a few things ready for going into the base at Signy in the morning. Went to bed at 5 ish but was up at 0930 ready to drive the ships boats into the base. Thats where most of the photos have come from.

10 green bottles sitting on a wall!

And if one greenbottles should accidently fall, down Alec's neck you end up in a bog loosing you're trainers!!
Spoons at his finest.

Note negative shoe right foot.

Stanley Cathedral & Waterfront

This is Stanley cathedral and infront of it is an arch of whale bone. Mention here goes to Bob who left a message on my Facebook wall regarding the Orange coat. Get used to it!! More Orange photos to come mate.

When its not blowing like a hurricane it's really very pleasant in the Falklands. Its like Scotland with out the whinging Jocks. A massive improvement as Im sure everyone will agree.
